The organ in its present form is the creation of members of the organ-building family Van Hagerbeer. Constructed between 1637 and 1643, it incorporates a rug-positif (the section built to project out from the front of the organ) originating in the 1560's and modified in 1626. This was recently restored to its original pitch and tuning, making it the largest authentic and historic organ for music of the 16th and 17th centuries.
